Banksy is a street artist whose identity is not known to the public. Banksy’s main way of making art is using stencils so he can spray paint areas quickly.
Banksy is also known for tag signs and walls that have ads on them. A lot of his art features rats. He has gained fame for doing crazy things at auctions and showcases. At one auction, his famous painting with a girl letting go of a heart balloon was shredded at the auction after it was sold. In another showcase, he let 100 live rats run inside the building. Banksy paints rats to symbolize himself in the form of another animal. His artwork has been criticized as vandalism as well as for copying an artist called Blek Le Rat, who made the life size stencil technique. Banksy has done a lot of work as an artist but still doesn't have a brand or tell people his identity. He states: “Copyright is for losers.”
The Banksy Exhibit was displayed in Chicago from August 7th - October 31, 2021. The exhibit had about $35 million worth of art and allowed 150 visitors at each viewing. About 750,000 people have seen the exhibit so far. The exhibit features work from 1997-2008. The exhibit is still open in Boston, Denver, and San Francisco.
