What is this new game and how to play it
The History of Among Us
Among Us, an online murder-mystery game, was developed by Innersloth, a small video game development studio. Among Us was released on June 15th, 2018 for iOS and Android. It was then released for Steam on August 18th 2018. When the game was initially released, only 30-50 players were playing at any given time, causing Innersloth to reconsider working on the game, but due to the small yet extremely supportive community playing the game, they didn’t give up. As they continued to update the game, more and more people started to play it including famous YouTubers and Twitch streamers. As people started to watch their favorite Twitch streamers play the game, the game grew in popularity. Another reason for the surge in popularity is due to COVID-19. The quarantine caused people to play more games with friends, one of these games being Among Us. Nowadays over 3.8 million people play it simultaneously and over 100 million people have downloaded the game!
Rules of Among Us
When playing, the game can take place in 1 of the 3 maps: the Skeld (a spaceship), Polus (a planetary base), and the last map MIRA HQ. Each of these maps have their own unique characteristics that can help decide the winner and loser of the game. The game starts out with 4-10 players, 1-3 of which are imposters while the rest act as crewmates. The impostors’ goal is to kill or vote out all the crewmates on the ship or sabotage the ship, killing the crewmates. The crewmates can win by completing all of their tasks or by voting out the impostor(s) before the imposters get them. Watch for upcoming Tips for Impostors and crew coming soon.
