BY AIDAN DROGOSZ Sunday the 17th of October at 12:00 p.m. kickoff, the Bears faced off against the Packers at Soldier Field. The Packers were expected to win. ![]() In the first quarter, the Bears were up 7-0, shutting down Green Bay with tons of sacks. In the second quarter, the Packers shut down the Bears, allowing 0 touchdowns and putting up one touchdown and a field goal finishing up the half with a score of 10-7. After halftime, the Packers came out and shut down the Bears, taking possession of the ball and scoring a touchdown. Until the end of the third quarter, the Packers continued to dominate scoring a touchdown and the Bears scoring one point, leaving the score at 17-14. In the 4th quarter, the Bears had the ball and needed to score, but they failed to get down field and were forced to punt. The Packers scored one more touchdown with 5 minutes left on the clock, paralyzing the Bears for the rest of the game. The Packers win 24-14. Although the Packers won this game, there is a long history of rivalry as they have played each other twice a year for more than 100 years, a total of 203 games. The record of this rivalry is Green Bay Packers 102 to 95 Chicago Bears. In 1921, the Bears owner,Geroge Hallas, ejected the Packers from the league so they could sign a player and the Packers could not. The Bears and Packers have had many fights on the field. The first recorded brawl occurred in 1924. These powerhouse teams have played each other in the playoffs twice before, which is surprising because of their 203 game history. At the game the crowd was ecstatic, filled with Bears and Packers fans screaming chants and lots of other things. Every Time the Bears scored the whole crowd got up and started cheering, but when the packers scored almost everyone booed. There were lots of people yelling at each other, getting mad because of bad flags or penalties and having fights. Hundreds of beer vendors were there walking up and down the rows. Every time you would hear “hit me'' or “let me get one'' I would say about half of the crowd was drunk. After the Packers started to take the lead at the end of the game, the crowd went silent, people got up and started leaving. After the 2 minute warning about half of the people were leaving. By the time the game ended almost the whole crowd was gone.
